Pro-M Racing Slot-Style Mass Airflow Sensor, Pigtail and 3.0" Bung
*Free Shipping
All the hardware you need to convert your supercharged/turbocharged 1989 to 2004 Mustang (or any voltage-based mass air Ford vehicle) to a blow-thru MAF setup. The included aluminum bung welds on to your existing aluminum piping. The included 36" MAF pigtail is soldered on to replace your original MAF connector. And the included Pro-M Racing slot style mass airflow sensor provides all the extended electronic range you need for big power cars using 3" to 4" charge piping. Note: Bung is aluminum, not steel.
The Pro-M Slot Style mass air sensor can be used in two ways:
1) As a direct replacement for the original sensor used in all 2005 and up voltage-based Ford products. The Pro-M sensor has three times more range than the stock sensor, and over 30 percent more range than our competitors product. The sensors extended range allows it to be used with engines with as much as 800 flywheel horsepower, while still using the stock air cleaner box. This sensor absolutely will not peg, yet still has excellent resolution. Tuning is required, and a 30 point transfer function sheet is available.
2) As an addition to fabricated ducting. Due to it's design, this sensor can easily be added to any piece of existing ducting. It can be used in both "blow thru" and "draw thru" applications, and has over 30 percent more range than our competitor's product. The sensor is calibrated so that it's range just slightly exceeds that of the ducting in which it is installed. This means that the sensor cannot peg, yet still has excellent resolution. Tuning is required, and a 30 point transfer function sheet is available. The transfer function sheet shows the transfer function that the sensor will have in whatever diameter duct you've chosen. It will support up to 800 HP in a 3" diameter tube, up to 1100 HP in a 3.5" diameter tube, and up to 1500 HP in a 4" diameter tube. In this application you may need the slot style pigtail.
This sensor is far superior to range extenders used with the stock sensor. It fits the entire range of higher horsepower within the 5 volt computer limitation.
This auction includes one Pro-M Racing Slot Style Mass Airflow Sensor, one aluminum weld-in bung, and one high quality universal solder-on pigtail. The pigtail is 36" long, and has the locking connector just like the stock 2005-up Mustangs have. It is the correct pigtail for this Mass Air Sensor.
The aluminum weld-on bung included in this kit is for a 3.0" pipe.
I have this kit available with 2.5", 3", 3.5", and 4" bungs in my Ebay store: Blow-Thru MAF Conversion Kits

Q&A
Why would I want this part in my newer Ford vehicle?
When you have a stock 2005 and newer voltage-based Ford sensor that is hitting 5 volts at full throttle ("pegging the MAF"), the computer cannot add any more fuel despite having additional airflow coming in. This means the car runs lean from there on, and that's usually right where you can't afford for it to run lean. This happens when your motor makes considerably more horsepower than the stock one did.
Why would I want this part in a pre-2005 Ford vehicle?
Well, this meter is newer and better mass air technology. But the main use for this sensor in older cars is when you are turbo or supercharging an engine, and you want to convert to a "blow-thru" MAF. Converting to blow-thru makes intercooled blowers and turbos a breeze to set up, and the newer design produces a much smoother and more accurate signal than the older style mass air meters.
What does it take to convert an older Mustang to this meter?
You'll need custom tuning, a harness pigtail for this style of MAF, and a bung or tube to insert this sensor into your air inlet tract. I sell the MAF bungs and pigtails separately in my Ebay store as well.
Can I use this in draw-thru setups?
Yes, but it's less common. Putting this sensor in a larger tube greatly expands the range, which reduces resolution. This MAF is better suited to intake tubing that's 3" to 3.5" in diameter.
Does it have a built in Intake Air Temperature Sensor?
Yes it does. And the sensor has the same transfer function as older IAT sensors, so it's a direct replacement. This allows you to use just this one sensor, instead of having to add an extra IAT sensor somewhere else in the intake tubing. And that makes for a very clean installation.
Do I have to use the built-in IAT sensor?
No. You can continue to use your existing IAT if you like. That will not have any affect on the airflow measuring portion of this sensor.
Can I use a range extender with this sensor?
Yes, in very high horsepower applications with fairly small inlet tubing, you may find a use for a range extender. But most vehicles are not going to need a range extender with this MAF, even with 3" intake tubing.
Is this sensor bi-directional?
No. It has to go in facing one way. There is an arrow on the sensor's sticker that points the direction of airflow. Please make sure you position the sensor correctly before hand, if you are welding a MAF bung into your existing piping.
Does this sensor have to be mounted straight up and down?
No. You can install the sensor sideways if you want. But I wouldn't recommend mounting it upside down. You should try to mount it in the 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock position.
What application is this sensor best known for?
This slot style MAF is perfect for centrifugal superchargers or turbochargers with intercoolers. A great example might be a turbo/supercharger and intercooler setup on an 89 to 2004 Mustang.
Where do you install this sensor?
Anywhere you want, really. But in a blow-thru application, this sensor is normally placed within a few feet of the throttle body.
What vehicle makes will this work in?
Any mass air vehicle that uses a voltage-based mass airflow meter, which requires an electronically larger mass air meter than stock. Typically, this might be Ford, Nissan, or any 0 to 5 volt mass air system. It will not work in frequency-based systems such as 2011-up Fords.
Does this require custom tuning?
Definitely. The range of this meter is so much larger than your stock meter that it would seriously lean out your engine without custom tuning. I offer custom chips and programmers that may be able to help you get your car up and running with this MAF and larger injectors, if you are interested. A spreadsheet is available upon request that gives you a close estimate to what the transfer function would be in various sized intake pipes. CUSTOM TUNING IS REQUIRED when using this MAF.
What's included in this auction?
This auction is for one Pro-M slot style mass airflow sensor, one solder-in harness pigtail, and one aluminum weld-in bung. If converting an older car to this style of meter, you must have a slot style bung and pigtail installed.
