The snappy arrangements on ALL TIME GREATEST HITS are deftly dispatched by, among others, the Burnette brothers Dorsey and Johnny who had formed the Rock 'n Roll Trio in the mid-'50s, and James Burton, the stinging guitarist who went on to play with Elvis.
On numbers like "Stood Up," and "Believe What you Say," Nelson sports rockabilly roots crossed with a true pop sensibility. As for balladry, the offerings are "A Teenager's Romance," "You're My One And Only Love' and the hauntingly spare "Lonesome Town." The tuneful, country-styled "Garden Party" closes the disc; Nelson's last big hit, the revealing, self-penned number describes what it was like trying to grow out of being one of the country's favorite teens.
