AUSTRALIA. GV. 1932. RARE! 5/- Sydney Harbour Bridge stamp used POSTALLY with neat Adelaide CDS.
This is
one of the most famous stamps from Australia and missing from nearly all
collections - only 72,800 "5 Bob Bridge" stamps were issued. SG 143, ACSC148.
Most of the remaining stamps are CTO (cancelled to order) and were "sold" in "Specimen packs" for about 15 years. They are still highly sought and valuable and are readily distinguished from postally used by the neat corner CTO cancel.
A 5 Bob Bridge used postally (commercially) is, according to an eminent Australian dealer and expert, "100 times rarer!" Remove the damaged (torn, creased, toned, poor perfs) and the heavily cancelled stamps from this small group and the pool becomes even smaller. They are possibly even rarer than mint stamps.
The difference between CTO and Postally used is now recognised in the SG catalogues: "The used price for SG143 is for a cancelled to order example. Postally used examples are worth more".
This one is super! Fresh colour, clean, super perfs and a clear Adelaide CDS.
No thins, tears or toning.
GLORIOUS!

PLEASE NOTE: As a collector selling in order to specialise, I have recently discovered that I have no control over the postage costs within the UK. EBAY has removed the option for me to combine costs easily as well. If you want to contact me, please leave a comment on ebay before purchase and we will work something out. There are ways!
However, all items appear to be insured for up to £750.
