REDUCED ORDNANCE MAP OF LONDON, Divided into Half Mile Distances, Showing the POSTAL DISTRICTS, RAILWAYS and STATIONS, and All the New Improvements to the Present Time - an iconic, large and very rare original antique hand-coloured folding map of Victorian London, published by Josiah Whitbread, Map-Seller, 142 Oxford Street, London, in 1874. The map is in good and clean condition overall, with a few old repairs to splits along a horizontal fold near the cover, and some smaller in the margins, as shown. It is highly detailed and elaborately and tastefully hand-coloured, with the original hand-colour still very good, vivid and highly appealing. The original covers are in very good condition. The accompanying index booklet, listing 16,000 streets, with some Victorian adverts, is also in very good condition, present but detached from the covers. The map measures approximately 32 1/2 x 23 inches (82.5 x 59 cm). A very good example of this exquisitely hand-coloured Victorian map of London, for collectors.
