Edward VI ruled England from 1547 to 1553, succeeding his father, Henry VIII, at just nine years old. The son of Jane Seymour, Edward was educated in the Protestant faith, and his reign saw major developments in the English Reformation. Government was led by powerful advisers, notably the Duke of Somerset and later the Duke of Northumberland. The Book of Common Prayer was introduced in 1549. Before his death at 15, Edward sought to secure a Protestant succession by naming Lady Jane Grey as his heir, but his half-sister Mary ultimately took the throne.

A thoughtful gift for Tudor enthusiasts, collectors of English kings and anyone interested in the royal history of the sixteenth century.
