For sale is an authentic, officially issued 1975 Hapoel Sports Association Commemorative Medal, minted in Israel to celebrate both the 50th Jubilee Anniversary of the organization and the 10th Hapoel Games.
"Hapoel" a sports organization, connected to the General Federation of Labour, was founded in Haifa in 1924. "Hapoel" was a pioneer in water sports, and "Hapoel Units" fulfilled defense roles. "Hapoel" has hundreds of branches throughout the country, many of them in immigration settlements and in workers villages.
The first National Congress took place in 1928. At later congresses Labour sports organizations from abroad participated. The 11th Congress took place in 1979.
Obverse:
Features a stylized number "5" merging with a basketball to represent "50" years. Below the text, beautifully sculpted figures depict traditional sports, including a basketball player, a runner, and a swimmer wearing a cap. Inscribed with "HAPOEL" in both English and Hebrew (הפועל).
Reverse:
Displays the large, iconic geometric symbol of the Hapoel Sports Organization. The upper rim reads "HAPOEL GAMES 10" in English and Hebrew (כינוס הפועל 10), along with "ISRAEL / ישראל". Centered are the official historic dates of the competition: 1-9.V.1975 (May 1–9, 1975).
Edge:
The emblem of the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation, and its initials in Hebrew and English.
