Bring the ultimate mid-century Hollywood Regency conversation piece to your home bar or office desk. This incredibly rare 1960s Japanese novelty dispenser is styled as a vintage onyx rotary phone, featuring a gorgeous swirled faux-marble base and gilded metal accents.
Lift the handset cradle, and it opens up to fan out a carousel holder for your cigarettes. Simultaneously, the mechanical wind-up music box in the base plays a classic retro melody.
The integrated brass lighter in the handset almost certainly makes this an incredibly rare variant of the Laurel Japan 1960s telephone dispenser.
There is a longer video, with sound, showing it working on Instagram if you search Upstaged Vintage.
In VERY GOOD vintage condition with only minor cosmetic signs of age and past use. The musical box is in full working order and the cigarettes pop-up as intended. (see video). The lighter sparks but I cannot get a flame, suggesting the nozzle needs a clean. I am not an expert in this area, you should take it to a specialist, maybe a working jeweller to get their opinion. Please see all photos and the video and remember it is around 50 years old and is pre-owned and pre-loved.
