Indian Handcrafted Designer Damroo Musical Instrument Rope Shiva Damru
The Damru is the favourite musical instrument of Lord Shiva, which is why it is also known as the Power Drum that invokes spiritual energy.
Damru is a small two-headed drum widely used in Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism. In Hindu tradition, the Damru is known as the sacred instrument of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Shiva first created the spiritual sounds of the Damru, through which the universe was created and regulated.
In Tibetan Buddhism, the Damaru is used in tantric spiritual practices and rituals.
This traditional percussion instrument is usually handmade and bound with rope similar to a Dholak. Both drum heads are of equal size and are attached with strings featuring pearls or moti at the ends.
When played by rotating the wrist, the pearls strike both drum heads to create rhythmic sound vibrations. The drum heads are traditionally made using goat skin and tightly secured with ropes around the body.
