Horse has a chip on the mane as shown in photos*
This is a vintage mid-century modern TV lamp planter with a black and white ceramic horse. It is a lighted planter from the 1950s TV lamp era, and it still has its original Underwriters' Laboratories "Inspected Portable Lamp" label, Issue 23285.
The glossy black horse is shown rearing and leaping across the front, with a flowing white mane and tail and a yellow painted eye. He is mounted on a curved white ceramic planter with a raised feather design on the outside. Below the planter is a pierced brass-tone metal band with a floral lattice pattern. It lets light glow through the openings when the lamp is on.
The back has a brass reflector shelf with a socket and a small turn switch. It holds a white globe bulb that lights the planter from behind. It has small maroon feet, a brown fabric-style cord, and a plug. The planter has a two-tier curved well that once held a plant or arrangement. It still has some green floral foam inside.
A great addition for collectors of TV lamps, planters, horse figurines, mid century modern decor, atomic era decor, vintage lighting, and retro kitsch.
