Banco Nacional Ultramarino
For your World Currency Collection-PCU1341
Details
Description: A fine Banknote from Mozambique on the eastern coast of Africa. This is the 5 November 1914, 50 Centavos, issued during the Portuguese administration. The banknote has a green coloring on multicolor under-print on the front. The front also has the name of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (National Overseas Bank) of Lisbon Portugal in the top margin. The banknote displays the date and the denomination on the front and only the denomination on the back. The front also depicts the bank's seal in the lower center. The note has the image of a seated woman with sailing ships in the background all in deep brown coloring on the back. The note has two signatures on the front. This particular note has the serial number 7,607,092 which is displayed on the front twice in red but is not displayed on the back. The paper of the note is limp and has quite a bit of wear, creases, and general roughness along the edges. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 5 November 1914.
Printer: Bradbury, Wilkinson, & Co. of London England.
Size: The banknote measures ~4 3/4" by ~2 3/4".
Pick Number: P 61.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as a fine with all the details being still preserved with still relatively nice colors. The note has many creases mostly vertical, general wrinkling, is soiled, a pronounced loss of color on the back along the central folds, it has some stains along the top edge on the front and at the bottom left corner of the back and has general roughness along the edges. The note's corners are rounded, and the note has a small split in the4 right margin which does not reach the design. The note has one pinhole that we could see but has no graffiti. A good example of this scarce bank note that is over 110 years old worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the scans presented scans for additional condition information.
