Original antique Imperial Russian cabinet portrait photograph, taken in Kyiv (Kieff) by the photographic studio of N. Ouzemsky / Nikolai Uzemsky.

The photograph depicts Innokentiy Andreevich Nemchinov (b. 1892), posed in an exceptionally striking white formal uniform.

He wears a high-standing collar and double-breasted tunic with two rows of decorative buttons. Particularly attractive period details include his pince-nez eyeglasses, a sword / dress sidearm suspended at his side, and a pair of white gloves held together with his cap.

The combination of the white uniform, sword, pince-nez, gloves and formal studio pose makes this a particularly elegant Imperial Russian portrait.

The photographer's original mount is prominently marked:

N. OUZEMSKY – KIEFF

and is decorated with the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle, another heraldic emblem and references to photographic honors received by the studio.

The elaborate reverse carries the photographer's original decorative imprint, including:

and the studio address:

The reverse also retains an original handwritten period inscription beginning “De memoria”, together with what appears to be the date “XXVI Novembre” (26 November). Additional handwriting is present but has not been fully deciphered.
