Freddie Freeman slapped this ball into the left center field gap and all the way to the wall for the 565th double of his MLB career tying him with Carlos Beltran at 28th on the all-time list on June 23, 2026 as the Dodgers took on the Twins at Minneapolis' Target Field. This is the 2,510th career hit for the Hall of Fame bound superstar.
Freddie didn't start the day the way he wanted in the 1st as he struck out swinging on an 88 MPH slider well outside not able to advance Ohtani and Pages who walked to start the game. The Twins replaced lefty Kendry Morales with righty Austin Voth to start the 3rd giving Freddie a fresh start and the advantage. Pages hammered a 3-2 82 MPH sweeper but right at Austin Martin in left center field for the first out of the inning. Voth was a bit wild with his first 2 pitches and Freddie uncharacteristically chased the 3rd well inside. He got good wood on the 4th pitch, a 4-seam 94 MPH fastball, but hit it foul down the 3rd base line. That brought this ball into play.
Voth's next pitch was a 76 MPH curveball that just hung out over the plate and Freddie shot it into the left center gap for career double #565 and career hit #2510. The ball traveled 250 feet with a launch speed of 102 MPH. Freddie epitomized good hitting--he hit where they weren't. The double tied him with Carlos Beltran for 28th on the MLB all-time doubles list. With 2,510, Freddie is the only current MLB player with at least 2,500 hits and he continues to cement his case as a first ballot Hall of Famer (Jose Altuve is getting close to joining him).
The ball is authenticated by Major League Baseball and has the MLB hologram. Stats are drawn from ESPN.com.
