Vintage Soviet photographic reproduction depicting Mikhail Kapitonovich Vidov (1906–1943), a decorated political officer of the 255th Marine Infantry Brigade during World War II.

Vidov served as Military Commissar and Deputy Commander for Political Affairs of the 255th Marine Infantry Brigade. He fought in the battles around Novorossiysk and the Black Sea coast and was killed in action in 1943.

The portrait shows Vidov in Soviet military uniform with binoculars. His political officer rank insignia are clearly visible on the collar tabs.

On his chest is a clearly visible screw-back Order of the Red Banner, one of the important Soviet combat decorations of the period.

The reverse bears handwritten Soviet-era identification:
“M. K. Vidov”

Additional archival notes on the reverse identify him with the 255th Marine Infantry Brigade.

This is a vintage Soviet photographic reproduction, probably dating from the 1950s–1960s. The excellent photographic sharpness suggests that it may have been produced from an earlier or possibly original negative, although this cannot be confirmed.

Size: approx. 130 × 180 mm (5.1 × 7.1 in).

An excellent identified military portrait connected with Soviet Naval Infantry, the Black Sea, Novorossiysk and the Battle of the Caucasus.

Combined shipping is available. New vintage military photographs and historical items are added regularly.
