Original vintage Soviet hand-drawn illustration, dating approximately to the 1980s.
The artwork is executed in ink with watercolor coloring on paper and depicts a humorous fantasy scene inspired by Slavic folklore.
At the top is a mysterious building with a Russian sign reading “Гостиница ‘Нечистая сила’” (“Hotel ‘Evil Spirits’”), with a young woman holding flowers looking out from the entrance.
Below are several humorous supernatural characters, including an old witch or Baba Yaga-type figure emerging from a stone doorway, another flying witch-like figure, an owl and a black raven or crow.
The combination of grotesque characters, folklore imagery and humorous cartoon style gives the drawing a distinctive late Soviet illustrative character.
There is handwriting or a possible signature in the upper right area, but the artist has not been identified.
Size: approximately 203 × 286 mm (8 × 11.3 in).
A unique original piece of Soviet-era graphic art, suitable for collectors of USSR illustration, cartoons, Slavic folklore, Baba Yaga and fantasy art.
