Kosta Boda Tulipa Set of 4 Hand-Painted Art Glass Tumblers

Ulrica Hydman-Vallien Design • Circa 1992 • Painter Signed

A beautiful and colorful set of four Kosta Boda Tulipa hand-painted glass tumblers, designed by renowned Swedish glass artist Ulrica Hydman-Vallien.

The set features four individually decorated tulip designs in yellow, red, blue, and orange, each surrounded by sweeping green leaves and bold black outlines. The colorful painted bands around the bases complete the unmistakable whimsical look associated with Hydman-Vallien’s Tulipa collection.

Each glass bears a small painter/decorator mark or initials near the lower portion of the design. The visible mark appears to read IG or LG. These are being described as painter/decorator marks rather than Ulrica Hydman-Vallien’s personal signature.

4 hand-painted glass tumblers

The Tulipa collection was designed by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien for Kosta Boda and introduced in the early 1990s. Her hand-painted glass designs are known for their expressive brushwork, vivid colors, botanical imagery and bold black outlining.

Because these pieces were individually hand painted, slight differences in brushwork, coloration and detailing are expected and are part of the character of the collection.
