Description

Antique Groetchen Tool & Mfg. Co. Dandy Vender Ball-Gum three-reel trade stimulator and gumball vending machine, manufactured in Chicago.

The interior casting is marked:

G113

GROETCHEN TOOL & MFG CO

CHICAGO ILL

The rear cabinet is embossed DANDY VENDER, and the machine features the raised BALL-GUM marquee, three fruit/bell Ball-Gum reels, “Drop Coin Here” coin slot, “Pull Knob Below for Gum” panel, fortune/award card and gumball dispensing compartment.

The machine has been tested and is working. Coins activate the mechanism and all three reels spin. It was tested with denominations ranging from pennies through quarters, and a gumball was dispensed with each play.

The cabinet key is included and opens the machine as shown in the photos.

This machine retains considerable age/use character. There are scratches, scuffs, oxidation, paint loss, fading, discoloration, dirt and other wear throughout. The reel strips and paper fortune card also show age-related wear. The interior mechanism is shown extensively in the photographs.

Several very old gumballs were still inside the machine when found and were used to confirm the vending mechanism operates. For sanitary reasons, the old gumballs will be discarded prior to shipping and are NOT included.

No restoration, repainting or polishing has been performed by me.
