Tested working — functionally tested, not film-tested. Shutter, LCD panel, meter and film transport all confirmed operating. Electronic body: requires 2x AA cells, not included.
Overview
Canon's T70, launched in 1984 — the camera that introduced the LCD panel and pushed program automation into the mainstream FD system. Multiple Program AE with dual metering, and it takes two AA cells rather than anything exotic, which is why these are still shooting forty years on.
Body serial 1760091, paired with the Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 (serial 1877137). It also carries its original Canon 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games lens cap — a small period detail that usually goes missing.

What Works
- Shutter: fires correctly across the program modes. Speeds not timed against instrumentation.
- LCD panel: powers up and displays correctly, all segments present — the T70's usual weak point, and this one is sound.
- Meter: responds and reads plausibly across both metering patterns.
- Film transport: advances and rewinds correctly under power.
- Lens: iris smooth and even through the range, focus ring smooth, no play in the mount.
- Film chamber: clean throughout — rails, pressure plate and take-up spool all unmarked.
Known Issues
- Light surface dust and handling marks to the body. Cosmetically good for its age — no cracks, no damage to the grip or panels.
- Batteries not included. The body will not operate without them, so it cannot be demonstrated on arrival until you fit two AA cells.
