For sale is an authentic, mid-century modern "Lobster Pot" rattan ottoman, originally designed in 1951 by the iconic Italian Neo-rationalist architect Franco Albini. This is the highly desirable small/standard size variant, perfect as a low-profile footstool, sculptural side table, or bohemian accent piece. Dimensions: Approx. 20 inches wide (diameter) x 12 inches high.
Condition: Very good vintage structural condition. The top "starburst" weave is remarkably tight, flat, and free of sagging or broken reeds. Features the original internal flared tripod bracing and all original bamboo wooden feet on the underside (highly rare for its age).
Note on Wear: There is minor, typical cosmetic splitting/unraveling to the thin cane binding on one side joint & 1 breakage (pictured), which does not affect its stability.
It retains a beautiful, rich amber-honey vintage patina. A timeless design classic that fits beautifully into Mid-Century Modern, Boho, or Eclectic interiors.
