Rare and original, 1860’s, large format Albumen Photograph of an unidentified Civil War Soldier (or company grade officer).

This very attractive, Card Mount Photo measures approx. 8 1/8" by 10" and is mounted on its original card mount (mount is trimmed to the edges of the Photograph). It is a vignette, bust portrait of of a rather dashing, Civil War Soldier wearing a single breasted, 9 button frock coat with Union Army buttons. His facial hair is quite distinctive and we feel as if we should recognize the soldier but unfortunately neither the soldier nor the photographer are identified in any way. The subjects facial hair and eyes have been light enhanced by the photographer as can be seen in the scans below.

This very rare, original 1860’s, large format, Civil War, Card Mount Albumen Photo is in excellent condition. The Photograph itself exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich tonality. It is generally clean and crisp with the delicate and minimalist enhancing adding to its beauty. The Card Mount was trimmed and its corners rounded sometime close to the date it was created to fit the Image into a typical, Victorian Walnut Frame (the frame is not present ).

A rare and very attractive, 1860’s large format, Card Mount, Albumen Photograph of an unidentified Union Civil War Soldier and a fantastic addition to any collection!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:

The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
