"Believe In Music" is one of the K-Tel titles people actually remember, and it sits right in the label's golden run of early-seventies TV-advertised compilations. K-Tel's formula was to license twenty-two current chart records by the original artists, squeeze them onto one LP, and sell it off a rapid-fire television spot rather than through the usual retail push. The result is a snapshot of a single radio season that no conventional label would have assembled, jumping between pop, soul, country crossover and rock on the same side. Collectors go after the TU-series volumes for the track lists and for the sleeve design, which has become recognisable as its own period style. Copies that have survived with a clean jacket are getting harder to find, since these were bought to be played rather than kept.
