THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:  The Donald Duck art stamp picture set is complete & in the original box. Copyright W. D. Ent.(Walt Disney Enterprises). The set appears to have been very lightly used but used creatively by a child. [Read my addendum below to learn just how creatively the stamps were used to create a comic strip with text supplied by the owner of the set in 1935] Undated but the extreme long bill on Donald Duck leads me to believe it is circa 1934-1935. Donald made his screen debut in the Wise Little Hen June 1934. The box measures 8 ½” by 11”. The set consists of 12 art stamps, a stamp pad, a book of blank paper & 6 crayons. The unused crayons are in the original holder but are somewhat misshappen. The first 9 pages of the pad of blank paper were used. Everything is in great condition. When the crayons became misshapen some of the material used to make a crayon bled onto the green bottom tray leaving a stain that at first you don’t notice. My photos will show everything. A great set with a great Donald on the cover. Notice how the cover artist was able render Donald in full yet leave off 1 leg! [Addendum: The original owner of this set had the initials WHG. Based on the comic strips created I am inclined to think WHG was a girl. WHG used the stamps in this set to create 3 comic strip stories & added word balloons as well as foreground/background scenery using a pencil. The 12 stamps include 3 Donald Ducks plus 9 characters from the Silly Symphonies cartoons including Timid elmer, Toby Tortopise & Hare, Wise Little Hen, Grasshopper, Penguin & more. The first comic strip involves a foot race between all the characters titled The Chump Triumphs. Donald expects to win & indeed thinks he won but the judge declared Toby Tortoise the winner because he was the only contestant to run in the right direction. The second comic strip takes place in the Disneyville Theater with all the characters performing. The third comic strip is titled The New Girl In Town, which appears to be a reference to WHG herself. WHG showed remarkable talent. If she was 10 years old in 1936 she would be 97 today. 082824/05CDE(16). Please see all my other eBay sales for 1930s Disneyana, Disney bisques & celluloid toys, premiums, comic character wind-up toys & figures & much more.  View all my BUY IT NOW listings.
