Offered is an original Hamilton Aquatel Electric wristwatch, introduced in June 1961 and powered by Hamilton’s historically important caliber 505 electromechanical movement. This is the original screw-back Aquatel, not the later front-loading Aquatel B. The watch features a 10K gold-filled D&A case with distinctive sculpted lugs, an attractive champagne sunburst dial, applied hour markers, and gold-tone hands. The Hamilton 505 is an early battery-powered electromechanical movement and is not a quartz movement. A new 394 silver-oxide battery and insulating spacer have been installed. The watch is running and has been observed running continuously over multiple days. Important condition note: The original center seconds hand is absent. The hour and minute hands are present, and the watch sets normally. Overall, the watch presents in excellent vintage condition with normal age-related wear. Please examine all photographs closely for the cosmetic condition of the case, dial, crystal, and case back. It is fitted with a new brown Hadley-Roma genuine leather strap. Measurements: • 34.0mm case diameter excluding crown • 38.1mm lug to lug • 12.0mm thick including crystal • 17mm lug width • 10K gold-filled D&A case • Hamilton caliber 505 electric movement • Case serial V95959 No box or papers are included. Water resistance has not been tested, so exposure to moisture should be avoided.
