This waterfall scene glows because of the technique of intuitively applying colors first and then finding the subject within the abstract painting and coloring and mark making until it comes alive. Many of my pieces have this influence within them where layers of color have been applied and the subject matter shown through afterwards. Whether it was minutes, days or weeks later... the subject always beautifully presents itself.


I've been inspired and influenced by numerous great artists, both past and present: Dale Chihuly's glass layered art, Leonardo da Vinci's realism, Jackson Pollock's splatter and drip technique, Henri Matisse's bright, bold colors, Gerhard Richter's squeegee abstract painting, Piet Mondrian's abstract shapes in familiar colors, Jean Arp's application of shapes according to the laws of chance, and The Zentangle's Method developed by Rick Roberts & Maria Thomas, and Jean-Michel Basquiat's raw, gritty and loose art along with his symbols within for hidden meaning. I incorporate all of these inspirations into my fluorescent paintings, which are UV-reactive and 3D Chromadepth viewable.
