🇺🇸 Antique French photograph showing a young girl seated in a photographer’s studio with a small doll resting against her.
The child wears a two-tone dress and necklace and is posed on upholstered furniture beside a large decorative book or box. The identity of the sitter is unknown.
The front of the mount is marked:
“E. Ladrey
Paris”
The ornate red studio imprint on the reverse identifies the photographer as Ernest Ladrey and gives his Paris addresses at Passage des Princes, Boulevard des Italiens and 97 Rue de Richelieu. It also states that the studio’s photographic negatives were retained.
Ernest Ladrey was a French photographer active in Paris during the nineteenth century. He died in 1889, after which his studio was continued by his son Henri.
The photograph is probably an albumen print mounted on card. Its clothing, mounting style and studio imprint suggest a date around the 1870s, although the exact date has not been established.
The portrait remains clear but has light overall fading, scattered small spots and minor surface marks. The card has light age toning and wear around the edges and corners. The red-edged mount shows rubbing and small areas of colour loss. The reverse has scattered spotting and handling marks.
No handwritten identification, major crease or tear is visible.

The photographs form part of the description. Please examine the front and reverse carefully and feel free to ask any questions before purchasing.
