The pillow covers in my shop are made of Ikat silk (pronounced Eye-cat) from Uzbekistan, handcrafted into pillow cases in Turkey. The silk is spun and dyed before it is woven into fabric, which creates the interesting patterns in the silk fabric.  (This is the opposite of tie-dyed where a garment or fabric is woven and then tied and dyed.)

Ikat patterns have become so popular in recent years that these patterns now being printed by machines onto cotton fabrics and made into clothing and other decor items, such as pillow covers.  The pillow covers in my shop are not machine-made dupes, but real Ikat silks, handmade in Turkey from silk imported from Uzbekistan.

Because silk is a natural fiber and the covers are handmade, you may see an occasional color difference in the thread.  These color spots are not stains or dirt, they are spots of color on the thread that is woven into the fabric.  These imperfections are a reminder that each cover is unique and artisan created.  That said, please examine the photos of the pillow covers and zoom in to see the details.

Pillow covers should be spot-cleaned or dry cleaned.

Pillow fill inserts are not included and should be inserted into the pillow covers carefully so as to protect the delicate cover.  The best method is to fold the insert in half and slowly insert into the zipper opening, carefully pushing the corners of the insert into the cover corners before zipping closed.
