Released in 1977, this is a landmark model—BOSS's first compact effects pedal series and the world's first overdrive pedal. It was a beloved pedal among both professionals and amateurs until production ended in the 1980s.

The OD-1 is an effects pedal that preserves the guitar's original tone while producing a mild, natural distortion reminiscent of a tube amplifier turned up to full. Unlike intense distortion, it fully expresses subtle picking nuances and fingering techniques, without disrupting the balance of the ensemble. It is widely used and considered a quintessential overdrive pedal.

This particular unit is a Japanese-made unit, estimated to be from 1986 based on its serial number, and features a 052-281E circuit board with silver screws. Equipped with a JRC4558DD op-amp, it delivers the natural drive sound and excellent boost performance characteristic of vintage BOSS pedals.

It is a legendary pedal indispensable to the history of overdrive pedals.

While there are signs of use commensurate with its age, there are no operational problems.
