Antique Royal Worcester Miniature Cabinet Vase

A charming late-19th-century Royal Worcester miniature cabinet vase with a deep cobalt-blue ground, twin scroll handles and raised gilt decoration.

The decoration has a distinctly Aesthetic/Japonisme character, with stylised floral medallions and gilt leaf motifs arranged asymmetrically around the body.

The underside carries the Royal Worcester factory mark. There also appears to be a partially obscured date character associated with the mark, but it is not sufficiently clear to assign an exact production year with confidence although it most likely relates to the letter code for 1883. The overall form, decoration and mark are consistent with Victorian / late-19th-century production.
