This is a vintage 1940 signed Mexican sombrero/cowboy hat ashtray, sold as a souvenir.

Overall it measures 2 1/2 inches high x 6 1/4 inches wide (6.3 cm x 15.9 cm).

I am sensing this is made of clay which was then painted.

It is marked with an indentation MADE IN MEXICO.

I believe the small curved piece on top was used to hold match sticks. I can’t be sure though.

You can see that this was used, as there are dark stains at the bottom. There is scattered paint loss to the ashtray. It has what I will call general age related wear to it. There are no chips or cracks though.

It weighs 11 ounces (310 g).
