Description
Product Description ■The development of the F-8 began in 1952 when the U.S. Navy requested a supersonic air superiority fighter.
In response to this request, Chance Vought developed an aircraft incorporating numerous innovative features.
The first prototype, the XF8U-1, successfully achieved supersonic flight and demonstrated high performance, leading to its adoption by the Navy.
Mass production began immediately, and the production model F8U-1 made its first flight in September 1955.
It was the world's first supersonic fighter jet based on a carrier.
Used primarily by the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as the French Navy and the Philippine Air Force.
