Bonnie Parker (1910–1934) and Clyde Barrow (1909–1934) were an American criminal couple whose short and violent lives became legendary during the Great Depression. The pair became associated with a gang involved in bank robberies, burglaries and killings across several American states during the early 1930s. Newspapers transformed Bonnie and Clyde into celebrity outlaws, portraying them in ways that mixed crime, romance and rebellion against authority. Their criminal spree ended on 23 May 1934 when they were ambushed and killed by law enforcement officers in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Their story has inspired numerous books, songs and films, most famously the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
