Original Soviet photograph dating approximately to 1934–1935, showing a remarkable outdoor winter scene with four women playing ice hockey.

The women are photographed on ice skates and holding hockey sticks, with an improvised wooden hockey goal visible behind them. One of the women appears to be playing as the goalkeeper while the others participate in the game.

The photograph provides an unusual documentary image of women participating in winter sports in the Soviet Union during the 1930s.

The photograph originates from an archive associated with Tomsk, USSR, and another photograph from the same archive and scene was identified as Tomsk. The location is therefore attributed to Tomsk based on its provenance.

The oval photographic composition, heavy snow surrounding the outdoor rink, period clothing, skates and early hockey equipment make this a particularly interesting image of Soviet women's sports and physical culture during the pre-WWII period.
