Original antique miniature portrait photograph dating approximately to c. 1912–1918, showing a young woman photographed in Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine, then part of the Russian Empire.

The woman is shown seated with her arms folded in front of her, wearing a light-colored dress and an attractive lace head covering.

Particularly interesting is the inscription “КОЛОГРАФИЯ” (Kolografia / Kallografia) visible along the upper edge of the photograph, together with the number 450.

Historical photographic directories record a Kiev photographic establishment called “Kallografia” / “Kalografia,” associated with M. N. Sherman and active approximately 1912–1918.

The photograph is unusually small, measuring only 33 × 42 mm (1.30 × 1.65 in), giving it the appearance of an early miniature or quick portrait photograph.

The combination of its tiny format, visible studio name and documented Kiev origin makes this an interesting survivor of everyday commercial photography in the final years of the Russian Empire.
