A lovely, bespoke made silver plated cigarette box, retailed by the French atelier Hermes, and crafted by their Parisian silversmith Ravinet D’Enfert. This particular example is wrapped in burgundy leather around the body and applied to the cover in copper/bronze with the initials UCAF around a caduceus, probably indicating a bespoke piece for an institution, possible a medical branch of the US airforce. The interior is brightly gilded and inset with a removable four-division cigarette holder. I cannot find another example the same as this but other variants are for sale at prices between $1000 and $2500. It is in great vintage condition with a few nicks and scratches to the leather but the plate just needs a jolly good clean!
