Original miniature late 19th-century photographic portrait of Nadezhda Buyvid, taken by photographer F. Orlov in Yalta, Crimea, then part of the Russian Empire.

The photograph dates approximately to the 1890s.

Nadezhda Buyvid was the sister of Elizaveta Mikhailovna Buyvid, later Elizaveta Nemchinova, and this photograph comes from the same Buyvid–Nemchinov family archive.

She is shown standing beside a decorative studio balustrade and holding a small book in her hand.

Her dark late Victorian dress is particularly attractive, with a high closed collar, fitted waist and strongly pronounced puffed shoulders characteristic of women's fashion of the 1890s. A small decorative monogram or ornament is visible at the collar.

The photograph is presented on an elegant black studio mount with the photographer's name and location printed in gold:
