Original antique cabinet portrait of Elizaveta Buyvid, photographed in St. Petersburg by the celebrated Levitsky photographic studio, dating approximately to the 1890s.

Elizaveta is shown wearing an exceptionally elaborate late 19th-century fashionable dress with dramatic striped puffed sleeves, a high lace-trimmed collar and richly detailed bodice.

The portrait is particularly attractive for its excellent photographic quality and the remarkable detail visible in the sitter's clothing, jewelry and facial features.

The lower right portion of the photograph bears the original embossed “Levitsky” studio signature, visible directly in the photographic mount.

The reverse retains the elegant original gold studio backmark identifying Levitsky as:

The backmark is additionally decorated with the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle.

The photograph comes from the same historic family archive as other identified photographs of the Buyvid family, allowing the sitter to be identified as Elizaveta Buyvid.
