The woman depicted in the photograph is identified as Elizaveta Buivid.

She is shown almost full length wearing an elaborate light-colored period dress with extensive lace, layered decoration and wide flowing sleeves.

One of the most attractive details of the portrait is the elegant closed parasol / umbrella held vertically in front of her. Together with the elaborate dress, earrings and carefully arranged hairstyle, it creates a particularly decorative example of late Imperial Russian women's portrait photography.

The photograph is mounted on an unusual elongated pale pink card measuring 97 × 207 mm (3.82 × 8.15 in).

The mount has attractive gilt edges around the entire perimeter, which remain clearly visible and add considerably to its period presentation.
