Original antique studio portrait of two young women, photographed in Ekaterinodar, Russian Empire, approximately c. 1900–1910.

The photograph was produced by photographer I. A. Sumovsky (И. А. Сумовский). His name and Ekaterinodar studio information are printed on both sides of the original mount.

The two young women are posed very closely together, with their heads touching, giving the portrait an unusually warm and personal character.

They wear very similar formal dresses with distinctive high lace collars. Their age and similar clothing suggest that they may have been gymnasium students or school friends, although the specific educational institution has not been identified.

The reverse retains the photographer's attractive original decorative studio imprint in blue, reading:

Photographer I. A. Sumovsky
Ekaterinodar
Krasnaya Street No. 54/30

The mount measures approximately 65 × 107 mm (2.56 × 4.21 in).

An attractive original pre-revolutionary portrait documenting young women's fashion, friendship and possible female gymnasium life in the Russian Empire.
