A genuine, authentic piece of late-19th-century Victorian hairwork. This historic fragment was originally part of a larger horseshoe-shaped hair wreath or mourning shadow box display.

This piece showcases remarkable craftsmanship and features traditional table-braided techniques, including a beautiful section of hollow, tubular "gimp" openwork lace. The ends culminate in dense, intricately wired floral clusters and looped petals made entirely from woven brown human hair. The original internal structural wire is present through the center core.

Please review all photos carefully. As this piece is unmounted and out of its original glass housing, it is a delicate fragment. There is some expected age-related fraying, loose flyaways, and mild twisting of the internal wire frame. It remains an excellent specimen of a historic art form.
