The PIONEER PL-88FS is an exceptionally rare and technologically advanced front-loading stereo turntable, manufactured in Japan during the golden age of high-fidelity audio. Its distinctive drawer-loading system allows records to be inserted and played without requiring any clearance above the unit, making it one of PIONEER 's most innovative and collectible turntables.


This remarkable model features a Quartz PLL direct-drive system with PIONEER 's Stable Hanging Rotor motor technology, providing excellent rotational stability and highly accurate playback at both 33⅓ and 45 rpm. Its performance specifications include wow and flutter of only 0.025% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 78 dB.


Unlike conventional automatic turntables, the PL-88FS uses a sophisticated motor-controlled pivoted tonearm manufactured from low-resonance Polymer Graphite. Optical infrared sensors detect the spaces between the tracks, allowing the user to locate, select and program individual songs in a similar way to a CD player.


Its extensive automatic functions include electrically operated front loading, automatic lead-in, auto-return, auto-cut, arm elevation, track skip, index scan, repeat playback, manual operation, automatic record-size selection, record detection and programmable search for up to eight tracks. It also includes PIONEER 's Deck Synchro connection for use with compatible PIONEER cassette decks.


The turntable is supplied with the cartridge and stylus shown in the photographs. Both have been carefully checked and tested by our specialized technical service to ensure correct tracking and excellent audio reproduction.
