| Imari-ware is a general term of porcelain that has been produced in the Hizen area centered on the current Saga Prefecture. It has a long history. Origin is a 17 century. And it is also famous as the birthplace of Japanese porcelain. About GENROKU-IMARI. GENROKU is a name of era of Japan. It is from 1688 to 1704. GENROKU-IMARI was baked at the time. There are a characteristic blue-and-white porcelain and colored porcelain in it. For example, it is a KABUTO-GATA form. It means a shape like a SAMURAI KABUTO(helmet). Moreover, the colored porcelain did not exist before the GENROKU age. Anyway, IMARI of the GENROKU age is very rare. Therefore, it is very precious and is popular. |
