Original World War I-era photographic postcard showing the Imperial Russian Navy dreadnought battleship Gangut, dating approximately to c. 1915–1917.

The ship is shown at anchor in a Baltic harbor or roadstead, with several smaller vessels visible nearby.

The location is believed to be Helsingfors (present-day Helsinki, Finland), which served as an important base of the Russian Baltic Fleet during World War I.

After completing her trials, Gangut joined the active Baltic Fleet and moved to Helsingfors at the end of 1914. The battleship was based there for much of the First World War.

Gangut was the lead ship of the Russian Gangut-class dreadnought battleships and one of the major capital ships of the Imperial Russian Baltic Fleet.

A faint period pencil inscription on the reverse appears to identify the vessel as:

“Лин. кор. Гангут” – “Battleship Gangut.”

The postcard-format reverse retains an old manufacturer's / photographic studio imprint.

The photograph measures approximately 85 × 135 mm (3.35 × 5.31 in).

This particular example has an interesting preservation history. The photograph was previously in very poor condition and was professionally treated / restored in an effort to stabilize and improve its appearance.

Despite this work, substantial original age-related damage remains clearly visible. It is offered as an authentic historical photograph rather than as a condition-sensitive photographic collectible.
