WHY COLLECTORS WANT THIS ONE
Those Were The Days is one of the big multi-record programs The Longines Symphonette Society sold by mail through its record club, and at six LPs it is one of the more generous ones. The theme is straightforward nostalgia: the sentimental standards, waltzes, marches, singalong favorites and dance-band hits that carried American popular music from the vaudeville and parlor-song era through the swing years, presented in warm, easy-on-the-ear arrangements and period vocal performances. Because these sets were sold by subscription rather than in stores, they were built to look the part on a shelf - a heavy slipcase, individual sleeves and a program booklet. It is a lot of listening for the money and a very pleasant way to spend an evening with music your grandparents grew up on.
