Antique Victorian Needlepoint text, God is Love, in an original dark wood Adirondack Frame.
the back of the frame has an ingenious method to release the back panel - see photos.
it is in excellent condition.
The needlepoint work is on a fairly stiff fabric (or even pierced card - difficult to tell - is this known as 'paper punch?) When held up to the light it is see through-able.
it's fascinating to see that the 'God is Love' has been imprinted on the original backing tissue paper and backing board, from daylight bleaching through..
This work measures approx 46cms x 17cms
The frame is 51cms x 22cms ( add 6cms for cross at corners)
