WHY COLLECTORS WANT THIS ONE
Dad Loves His Work is the last of James Taylor's great Columbia run and one of his most underrated. "Her Town Too," the duet with J.D. Souther, became a top-twenty hit and is still the song people reach for from this record, but "Hard Times" and "Only for Me" are among the sharpest, most clear-eyed writing he ever did. The 1981 production is crisp and full - it sounds terrific on a decent system - and the album charted top ten. A quietly rewarding late-period Taylor LP.
