This framed artwork is an original drypoint etching titled Afternoon, Sahagun, Spain (1929) by the renowned Scottish printmaker and architectural artist Sir Muirhead Bone (1876-1953).

The piece depicts a traditional streetscape featuring the prominent tower of the Mudejar church of San Tirso or San Lorenzo in Sahagún, Spain, rendered with Bone's characteristic meticulous line work and atmospheric shading. It is hand-signed in pencil in the lower right margin by the artist, and similar museum-vouched impressions reside in collections like the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University.

As you can see from the photos, the back appears you have been exposed to a bit of moisture over the decades, but when looking at the front, it is an excellent condition with just a slight wave to the paper. The matting has toned a bit with age, and it is framed to under glass. I have not examined the artwork out of the frame. It has a label on the back from Closson gallery in Cincinnati.

It measures approximately 14 1/4 x 20“ framed, and the viewable image with the white border is approximately 8 x 13 1/4“. Thanks for your interest.
