From 1998 to 2004, the United States Postal Service sponsored the pro-cycling team featuring cyclist Lance Armstrong. The vision was an alliance to promote speed and reliability. When it was discovered that the team was engaged in doping to win tours, the campaign backfired. The USPS stopped promoting the team and ordered the flags to be decommissioned. Many of these flags were destroyed. Some were merely shelved and removed from offices that closed.
This is a rare collectible for stamp, flag, and cycling enthusiasts. The yellow area of the flag represents the color of the jersey Lance wore.
Wonderful piece of history and nostalgia.
