Behind him is a Soviet tank and the ruined Reichstag in Berlin, with a red flag flying above the building — one of the most recognizable symbols of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany and the Battle of Berlin.

It was written by a father to his son Yuri. The sender gives his location as Balashov, Saratov Region and his military address as:

“Курсы усоверш. офицеров МОВУ, литер Б”

— Advanced Training Courses for Officers of the Local Military Administration (MOVU), Letter “B”.

This provides an interesting direct connection with the Soviet military establishment during the immediate postwar period.

The message includes personal greetings and wishes concerning the son's studies and health, making the postcard both a piece of Soviet Victory propaganda and genuine family military correspondence from 1945.

The address side also retains a Soviet military censorship marking and postal cancellation.
