Dell 044GNF PERC H730 Adapter 1GB Cache 12Gb SAS PCIe RAID +Battery No Bracket

MPN  044GNF / 44GNF
What it does
This is a Dell PERC H730 RAID controller, a plug-in PCIe card that connects a server's hard drives and SSDs to the system. It groups several drives into RAID arrays for redundancy and speed. Its 1GB cache is the flash-backed type: with a healthy cache battery the controller runs write-back caching, and if the battery is weak it keeps working and runs write-through instead.
Condition
Tested working. Clean board with the cache battery attached; heatsink seated, both SFF-8643 ports and the gold PCIe contacts undamaged, no corrosion or burn marks. The three bracket mounting holes are clean and gold-plated with no thread damage or elongation. No mounting bracket fitted — the port end is bare PCB. Cache battery is present and physically intact, date-coded October 2017; it has not been charge-tested. Dell server pull, light handling marks.
What's Included

One Dell 044GNF PERC H730 Adapter 1GB Cache 12Gb SAS PCIe RAID +Battery No Bracket.

Fitment
A PERC H730 Adapter for Dell PowerEdge 13G — the PCIe card, not the Mini.
Drops into any spare PCIe 3.0 x8 slot. Eight internal 12Gb/s SAS ports across two SFF-8643 connectors, hardware RAID with a 1GB non-volatile cache and the cache battery attached.

Fits
•  Dell PowerEdge 13G with a spare PCIe 3.0 x8 (or x16) slot — R630, R730, R730xd, R430, R530, T430, T630
•  Also runs in non-Dell servers and desktops — it carries its own option ROM and configures at boot, independently of the host
•  RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60, plus non-RAID passthrough and HBA mode — SAS or SATA, HDD or SSD, up to 8 drives direct-attached
The heatsink is passive and expects server front-to-back airflow, so give it some air in a quiet desktop build.
Read this before you buy · four things people get wrong
•  No mounting bracket is fitted. The port end is bare PCB, so add a bracket to screw it into a chassis. The board itself is low-profile (MD2) height and Dell sold both bracket heights for it.
•  This is the Adapter, not the Mini. Most 13G servers already carry an H730 Mini in a dedicated storage-controller socket. This one needs a normal PCIe slot — it is an alternative to the Mini, not a drop-in for that socket.
•  SAS cables come from your chassis. In a PowerEdge use the chassis backplane cable marked SAS A / SAS B; outside one, a forward breakout SFF-8643 to 4x SFF-8482 or SATA.
•  The cache battery is date-coded 2017 and has not been charge-tested. With a healthy battery the card runs write-back caching; if the pack is weak the card keeps working and runs write-through instead. Replacement 0H132V packs are inexpensive.
This is the 1GB H730. The 2GB card is the H730P — a different part number, and we list it separately. If you specifically need 2GB of cache, buy that one instead.
