Original Soviet WWII New Year field-post card dated December 4, 1943.

The front bears the Russian New Year greeting:

“С НОВЫМ ГОДОМ!” — “Happy New Year!”

The touching wartime illustration depicts a mother and children looking at a portrait of an absent Red Army serviceman, while a young boy is shown with a toy rifle. The image reflects the separation of Soviet families during World War II and the hope for a soldier's return home.

The artwork is signed in print:

The postcard was published by the Soviet Iskusstvo (Искусство) publishing house, commissioned by ЦУВПС, with a stated print run of 500,000 copies.

The reverse contains a handwritten message dated:

4 December 1943

The writer begins:

“Дорогие Тосик, Люсик, Галочка!!!”

and sends New Year greetings and wishes for good health and a happy reunion in the coming year.

The card was genuinely sent through the Soviet wartime postal system and retains its field-post address and wartime postal/censorship markings. The sender's field-post number appears to read 83385.
