VINTAGE 1950s PROTECTOR LAMP & LIGHTING CO. Type 6 Miners Safety Lamp. No. 37. Eccles.
Lovely original display item which has been used down a coal pit in Scotland or somewhere else in the UK. Looks to have been cleaned in the past but has the patina of many dents in the metal work due to continued use down a British mine. It's missing its glass and associated gaskets and may be missing other components such as the flint assembly, but otherwise is more-or-less complete - see photos.
The brass middle part is stamped PATENT and also 55/3017; which suggests that the lamp dates to 1955, and is therefore over 70 years old.
The lamp is approx 9" high, excluding the brass hanging hook. The base diam is 3 1/4". The lamp weighs about 1.18 kg.
